Dairy Cow ClarabelleThings have been incredibly busy here at SaJe Family Farm, but today, we’re pausing to share something big and deeply meaningful with all of you.

As many of you know, we recently experienced a heartbreaking loss. Our beloved MayBelle passed away, and the farm just hasn’t been the same without her. She was more than just a cow — she was family. Every time we open the back door, we still expect to hear her familiar bellow greeting us.
The silence that follows is heavy, and her absence is deeply felt in the daily rhythm of our lives.

But amid the sadness, a new chapter has begun.

We reached out to the farmer we originally bought MayBelle from, hoping he might have some leads. He kindly tested a few of his cows and discovered a couple of A2/A2 ladies among his herd. With hopeful hearts, we rented a trailer and made the trip to his farm.

That’s when we met Clarabelle.

At 7 years and 5 months old, Clarabelle is a seasoned lady — sweet, gentle, and wise. Though she was a bit shy and understandably nervous when we first met her, there was something about her calm presence that just felt right. We knew she belonged with us.

After a long trailer ride and the big change of scenery, we gave her some time to settle in before sharing the news. She’s been with us since Tuesday and is adjusting beautifully. While she’ll never replace MayBelle, Clarabelle has already carved out a place in our hearts.

She’s calm, kind, and carries herself like a gracious grandmother — patient and steady. When we’re hooking her up to milk, she stands quietly, watching us with eyes full of curiosity and calm, as if she’s quietly chuckling at our fumbling attempts.

This is all brand new for her. She spent her entire life on one farm, so our routines and surroundings are a big change. But she’s handled it like a champ.
She’s even met our sheep and goats, and based on the look on her face, we’re pretty sure she thinks they’re a little odd. We don’t blame her — if you’ve never seen a sheep before, they’re probably quite the sight!

We’re so grateful for this new beginning. Clarabelle may be new to our farm, but she’s already become part of our story.

Stay tuned for more updates (and lots of Clarabelle photos) as she continues to settle in!

With gratitude,
The SaJe Family Farm Team
